Overview of the role
We are seeking a skilled Android Developer to join our team and focus on the development and enhancement of /e/OS default applications. In this role, you will work on a variety of applications, some of which are forks from the open-source community. Your mission will be to improve their functionality, performance, and integration with /e/OS, while ensuring a seamless user experience.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain /e/OS default apps, focusing on privacy, performance, and usability.
• Work with forks of open-source apps, merging upstream changes and optimizing for /e/OS.
• Use GitLab CI/CD to automate testing and deployment.
• Collaborate via GitLab and participate in code reviews.
Requirements:
• 3+ years of Android development (Kotlin/Java/ Jetpack Compose).
• Understanding of Android architecture principles guidelines.
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD (or similar) and open-source projects.
• Passion for privacy, security, and user-centric design.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in a remote work environment.
• Familiarity with Agile methodology.
• Passion for open-source development and innovation.

As a key member of the OS&Apps team at Murena, you will deliver a seamless, bug-free user experience for /e/OS. Our global team collaborates closely with other squads, such as Devices and Cloud.
Our team communicates asynchronously and relies on GitLab to manage day-to-day activities efficiently. We value every team member's input in shaping the OS roadmap. Together, we foster a culture of collective ownership and continuous improvement.
