Blue Matter’s policy strategy team helps life sciences clients both navigate and shape the US health policy environment. We translate policy developments into pricing, market access, and commercial strategy, and help clients design policy proposals, evidence-backed narratives, and advocacy strategies for policymaker audiences.
This role sits at the intersection of US health policy and life sciences commercialization.
As an Associate Principal with Blue Matter, you will join a fast-growing firm with a dynamic and seasoned team of consultants and have the opportunity to help grow and build the company. You will lead engagements that translate US health policy into commercial, access and advocacy strategy for biopharma clients across the product lifecycle.
Primary ResponsibilitiesLead and manage project teams in the delivery of cross-functional projects at the intersection of US health policy and life sciences commercialization
Engage with clients to frame policy implications for pricing, access, and reimbursement strategy
Lead and manage policy strategy engagements to help clients define their positions, prioritize issues, shape policy proposals and deploy policy communications
Support project leadership in the development of project objectives; develop and manage project plans and teams
Identify required project tasks, assist project leads in assigning tasks to team members, and demonstrate accountability for ensuring task completion
Design, execute, analyze and synthesize primary and secondary research efforts
Identify key insights, recommendations, opportunities, and threats to inform corporate and commercial strategies
Develop business and engage with senior-level clients
Recruit, develop and manage top talent
Identify business opportunities and support new business acquisition
Desired Experience and SkillsDemonstrated expertise with new client engagement and supporting business development
Demonstrated ability to integrate health policy analysis into commercial decisions for life sciences clients
Substantive command of US drug pricing, coverage, and reimbursement policy as it affects life sciences commercialization
Deep understanding of insurance reform, PBM economics and provider landscape shifts
Prior experience in specialty therapeutic areas: Oncology, Immunology, Neurology, and/or Rare Diseases
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Preferred QualificationsAdvanced degree(s) (PhD, MD, MBA, or MS)
6+ years of life sciences consulting experience and/or biopharma industry experience or relevant trade association
Prior experience in a US health policy environment relevant to the life sciences industry
Demonstrated health policy thought leadership is a strong plus
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary range: $185,000 – $225,000 per year. Generous incentive compensation structure.
