About the Role We are seeking Volunteer Contributing Authors to support Explore, our LGBTQIA+ Educational Hub. This role is focused on producing high-quality, experience-informed content that aligns with Publicly Private’s mission of education, empowerment, and accessibility. Authors will contribute articles and educational content across LGBTQIA+ topics including identity, mental health, sexual wellness, culture, and community. This is a remote, flexible volunteer opportunity. Key Responsibilities • Research and write original, high-quality articles aligned with our mission • Develop educational blog-style content across LGBTQIA+ topics • Create informative and accessible written materials for a general audience • Ensure accuracy through fact-checking and use of credible sources • Edit content for clarity, consistency, and inclusivity • Collaborate with the content team to develop ideas and support content planning • Contribute to maintaining content calendars and publication flow Qualifications • Strong writing and content development skills (articles, blogs, educational content) • Experience with editing, proofreading, and fact-checking • Ability to conduct in-depth research and synthesize information clearly • Understanding of content marketing or digital media strategies is a plus • Strong commitment to LGBTQIA+ advocacy, inclusivity, and community support • Excellent organizational, time management, and collaboration skills • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or related field or equivalent experience a plus • Experience engaging with diverse communities or nonprofit work is a plus Who We’re Looking For We are especially interested in contributors with professional or hands-on experience in areas such as: • Mental health and counseling • Sexual health and education • Healthcare or public health • Community advocacy and nonprofit work • Research or academic expertise in relevant fields • Strong lived experience with deep understanding of specific LGBTQIA+ topics Why Contribute • Get published on a growing national LGBTQIA+ platform • Share your expertise in a meaningful, community-centered way • Support underserved LGBTQIA+ individuals through accessible education • Build a portfolio of impactful, mission-driven work • Join a network of contributors committed to advocacy and inclusion How to Apply Please submit to [email protected]: • A brief introduction about your background and experience • Topics you are interested in writing about • Writing samples or relevant work (if available) Our Commitment Publicly Private is committed to creating an inclusive, respectful, and affirming space for all contributors and community members. +No matter your identification, you have a home, and your work helps build it!
