About the position
We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support two senior living and skilled nursing centers in the Boston area. This is a full-time temporary position with the potential to become a permanent opportunity for the right candidate. This role is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys a fast-paced environment, building relationships with employees and leaders, and making a meaningful impact in healthcare and senior living. The HR Generalist will partner closely with center leadership and the regional People & Culture team to support recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, leaves of absence, retention initiatives, compliance, and day-to-day HR operations.
Responsibilities
• Support daily HR operations across two senior living centers
• Respond to employee, applicant, and supervisor questions and concerns
• Assist with employee relations matters, investigations, coaching conversations, and performance management
• Participate in disciplinary meetings and other employee-related discussions under the guidance of HR leadership
• Support employee recognition, engagement, morale, and retention initiatives
• Participate in wellness and culture-building activities
• Partner with Talent Acquisition and center leadership to support hiring efforts
• Assist with interviewing, onboarding, orientation, and new hire processes
• Conduct reference checks and background screening reviews
• Help ensure a positive candidate and new employee experience
• Support leave of absence administration and benefits-related processes
• Conduct HR file and compliance audits
• Assist with reporting related to hiring, turnover, tenure, and staffing trends
• Help maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies
• Serve as payroll backup support as needed
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
• Minimum of 3 years of HR experience
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information professionally
• Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to quickly learn HRIS systems
• Ability to travel between multiple center locations weekly
Nice-to-haves
• SHRM-CP or similar HR certification preferred
• Experience in healthcare, skilled nursing, senior living, or multi-site environments strongly preferred
• Knowledge of employment law, leave administration, and employee relations best practices
