Job Description
What you will achieve
As Principal Engineer - Industry & Regulatory Senior Director, you lead our industry engagement and thought leadership strategy across Europe.
You bring together market insight, regulatory understanding, customer priorities, and commercial awareness to help shape our regional direction. You build strong external relationships, influence internal decision-making, and help turn industry change into opportunities for customers and for the business.
You will:
Lead and evolve our industry engagement and thought leadership strategy for Europe
Build trusted relationships with regulators, government stakeholders, industry groups, customers, and partners
Represent GE Vernova at senior level across the European energy sector
Translate market developments, policy changes, and customer needs into clear strategic priorities
Help shape product and solution direction so it aligns with customer challenges and market opportunity
Support customer growth, retention, and long-term value in partnership with commercial teams
Strengthen senior customer relationships and act as a trusted advisor across the Electrification Software portfolio
Create alignment across teams by sharing market insight and helping colleagues respond to regional priorities
Identify partnership and alliance opportunities that support sustainable business growth
Help strengthen our market position in a fast-evolving energy landscape
You are likely to bring:
Strong experience in the electricity sector, with understanding of transmission, distribution, grid operations, or energy markets
Experience working with senior stakeholders in utilities, regulatory bodies, government organisations, or industry associations
The ability to bridge operational experience and commercial thinking, especially in software, digital, or technology-led environments
Experience shaping strategy and influencing decisions across complex organisations
Strong business and financial awareness
Confidence building relationships at executive level and communicating with credibility
The ability to simplify complex topics and turn them into clear, actionable messages
A collaborative approach and experience working across teams, functions, and geographies
Fluency in English and proficiency in at least one additional European language
Essential requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need:
Substantial experience in the electricity sector
Deep understanding of grid operations and the wider utility technology landscape
Experience engaging and influencing at senior or executive level
Experience working across countries or international markets
The ability to translate market, regulatory, and customer insight into strategic direction and business value
The right to work in the UK and EU
Willingness to travel as needed across the UK and Europe
What is nice to have
Experience in both operational utility environments and software or digital business settings
Experience leading in a matrix or cross-functional organisation
Experience developing strategic plans and building support around a clear vision
A strong customer-focused mindset and the ability to turn customer needs into practical business opportunities
Interest in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, and how they can support the future of grid and energy software
