Description of Work
The Nursing Home Surveyor (Nurse Consultant I) position involves regulatory activities to determine compliance of nursing homes with federal and state requirements through inspections.
Job Responsibilities
• Survey nursing homes during routine surveys and complaint investigations.
• Complete survey reports, including statements of deficiency and complaint allegation findings.
• Must pass the Federal Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT) after training.
• Work a home‑based schedule servicing Columbus, Duplin, Greene, Harnett, Johnston, Jones, Lenoir, Martin, Pitt, Wake, Wilson counties region. Spend an average of three days per week in nursing homes conducting inspections. Occasionally inspections are required on weekends and night shift. Overnight stays are expected when the nursing home is greater than 60 miles from home‑base.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities / Management Preferences
• Strong clinical background, including assessment, care planning and delivery of care.
• Demonstrated skills in communicating effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to compose technical reports using good grammar.
Salary and Benefits
Salary Range: $62,044 - $102,371
Recruitment Range: $62,044 - $80,000
This position is funded in part through federal funds.

Minimum Education and Experience
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and one year of experience in the area of specialization.
