Part-Time Patient Service Representative (Medical Receptionist)

About the position University Hospitals Urgent Care is seeking a friendly, detail-oriented professional to join their team as a Patient Service Representative (PSR). This role is the first point of contact for patients, responsible for providing a welcoming and efficient patient experience and ensuring seamless front-office operations. The PSR will create a positive experience by managing front-office operations, assisting with administrative tasks, and supporting the overall clinic workflow. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys customer service, problem-solving, and working in a team-oriented healthcare setting. Responsibilities • Greet and assist all patients and visitors with a positive attitude, ensuring they feel comfortable and valued. • Maintain confidentiality while collecting and organizing important patient and business documents. • Analyze health insurance benefits, verify eligibility, and provide patients with relevant payment policies and billing/collection information. • Determine and collect each patient’s financial responsibility, ensuring transparency and clarity about costs. • Assist the practice manager, providers, and other staff members as needed to ensure smooth daily operations. • Understand and enforce healthcare regulatory requirements such as HIPAA and OSHA standards, ensuring all documentation and processes are handled according to guidelines. • Perform office procedures and general administrative tasks; proficiently operate office medical equipment. • Oversee compliance with quality assurance programs, CLIA waived laboratory requirements, and patient result trackers. • Support staffing and operational needs by traveling to other University Hospitals Urgent Care locations as required. Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent • 1+ year of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred • Strong communication, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a busy environment • Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software, EPIC preferred • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including some weekends and holidays • A proactive, friendly, and patient-focused approach to service Nice-to-haves • Medical Administrative Assistant certificate a plus Benefits • LIFE-Work Balance & Flexible Schedule: Part-Time: – two, 12 hour shifts (8 am - 8 pm) each work week (Sunday to Saturday) and one full weekend/month. 50% holidays.
