About the Role
The Manager, People Operations serves as the operational and systems backbone of the People function during a defining moment of company growth and transformation.
This role owns the core operational engine of People Ops, the design and implementation of scalable systems and automations, the strategic direction of our HR technology infrastructure, and the analytics and reporting that give leadership clear visibility into organizational health. The successful candidate brings disciplined execution, strong systems thinking, and genuine enthusiasm for applying AI tools to make HR operations more effective.
This role unlocks strategic capacity across the People function by elevating the operational work, allowing the broader team to focus on the strategic talent and business partner work that drives InMarket's continued growth.
Core Areas of Responsibility
Operational Execution
Own day-to-day People Operations including onboarding, offboarding, immigration coordination, manager changes, audits, and documentation
Maintain compliance with federal and state employment law, with attention to multi-state requirements
Serve as the operational point of contact for employees and managers on People Ops questions
Systems and Automation Leadership
Operate as the power user across InMarket's HR technology stack, leading configuration, integration, and workflow design
Identify, design, and implement automations that reduce manual workload and improve employee experience
Apply AI tools as core working practice across documentation, communication, automation design, and decision support
HR Technology Strategy
Lead evaluation and optimization of our HR systems infrastructure
Conduct due diligence on platforms, tools, and vendors, and build business cases for systems investments
Partner with leadership to align HR technology decisions with broader business needs
Reporting and Analytics
Build and maintain executive-level dashboards covering headcount, retention, engagement, performance trends, recruiting metrics, and operational KPIs
Synthesize people data into actionable insights and recommendations for leadership
Project and Program Management
Lead cross-functional People initiatives including engagement survey rollout, system migrations, and policy refreshes
Oversee operational transitions and partner integrations as the business evolves
Drive structured execution across stakeholders, timelines, and deliverables
HR Business Partner
Ability to quickly diagnose organizational issues using data driven insights to drive business and culture outcomes
Partner with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable programs for professional growth and organizational development.
Handle sensitive exits, investigations, and policy interpretation with professionalism and discretion
Provide operational HR partnership to leaders on process, system, and policy questions
Coordinate cross-functionally with IT, Finance, Legal, Talent Acquisition, and Benefits to ensure alignment across people-related systems
Change Agent
Drive change efforts, process improvement, system evaluation and implementations as needed
High degree of comfort with leading change efforts, partnering with cross functional stakeholders and flawless execution

Begun applying AI tools to specific operational workflows, with documented examples of efficiency gains

Delivered measurable reductions in manual operational workload through implemented automations
Built and launched executive-level dashboards providing real-time visibility into key people metrics
Led successful execution of major operational initiatives and partner transitions
Delivered a strategic recommendation on HR technology evolution, including business case and implementation roadmap
Established InMarket's People Operations function as a model of modern, AI-enabled, technology-forward HR practice

Successfully lead one or more company wide People or Talent initiative
Your Experience & Expertise
Demonstrated track record building scalable HR Operations infrastructure in fast-paced or high-growth environments
Power-user fluency across HRIS platforms, with experience evaluating, implementing, and optimizing systems
Working command of AI productivity tools applied to HR operations, with specific examples of shipped work
Proven experience designing and implementing workflow automations that reduced manual effort
Strong analytical capability, including dashboard development, data synthesis, and translation of findings into executive-ready recommendations
Working knowledge of immigration processes including H-1B, OPT, and green card sponsorship coordination
Strong understanding of federal and California employment law, with multi-state experience strongly preferred
Experience handling employee relations matters including investigations and sensitive exits with discretion and sound judgment
Strong project management orientation with experience leading cross-functional initiatives
Comfort operating in environments of significant change and evolution
Collaborative working style with the ability to engage stakeholders across functions
Curiosity about emerging technology and a self-directed interest in exploring how AI can improve HR practice
Nice-to-have:
Experience implementing or optimizing AI-enabled HR workflows
Familiarity with workflow automation tools
Experience evaluating or implementing modern HRIS platforms
Background spanning both mid-size and high-growth scaling environments
SHRM-SCP, HRCI, or equivalent certification
Prior experience in adtech, SaaS, or technology

For candidates in California, Colorado, and New York City, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington and Massachusetts, the Targeted Base Salary Range for this role is $130,000 to $140,000. This role is also eligible for an 8% bonus based on achievement of company goals.
Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to work experience, specialized skills and training, performance in role, business needs, and job requirements. Base salary is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Base salary is just one component of InMarket’s total rewards package that also may include bonus, equity, and benefits.
