Position Overview
This is a fully remote position with flexible scheduling. The right candidate is a self-starter with a strong background in employment litigation who can manage cases independently and communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
Key Responsibilities
• Draft and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and correspondence in NJ state and federal court matters (and NY courts where applicable).
• Manage case calendars, deadlines, and court filings via eCourts, PACER, and NYSCEF.
• Organize and analyze documents, medical records, payroll/HR records, and ESI; assist with document production and privilege review.
• Prepare deposition binders, witness files, and trial exhibits; assist with hearing and trial preparation.
• Conduct legal and factual research to support employment claims (Title VII, NJLAD, FMLA, FLSA, NYSHRL, NYCHRL, ADA, NJ CEPA, etc.).
• Communicate with clients to gather information, schedule meetings, and provide case status updates.
• Maintain organized electronic case files and assist with billing-related tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications
• Minimum 3+ years of paralegal experience with substantial litigation work.
• Hands-on experience with New Jersey state and federal court litigation, including eCourts and PACER/CM-ECF filing.
• Strong knowledge of NJ Rules of Court and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
• Excellent writing, organization, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines independently in a remote environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and standard case management/e-discovery tools.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience litigating in New York state and federal courts (NYSCEF and SDNY/EDNY/CM-ECF).
• Background specifically in employment law — discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage-and-hour, FMLA/leave, and wrongful termination matters.
• Paralegal certificate or related degree.
Compensation & Schedule
• $35 per hour
• Flexible hours — set your own schedule around case deadlines and team needs
