Senior Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Engineer Company NextPoint Advisory About the Role NextPoint Advisory is seeking a highly skilled Senior Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Engineer to support a large-scale enterprise healthcare modernization initiative focused on Citrix to AVD transformation, operational stabilization, and enterprise-scale virtual desktop delivery. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on Azure Virtual Desktop deployment, migration, operational support, troubleshooting, and optimization within a complex healthcare environment. We are looking for engineers who have REAL enterprise AVD operational experience and can contribute immediately in fast-paced production environments. Responsibilities • Deploy, configure, and support Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments • Support Citrix to AVD migration activities and onboarding efforts • Configure and troubleshoot FSLogix profiles and session host environments • Manage host pools, session hosts, image lifecycle, and scaling activities • Support Azure image management and Azure Compute Gallery processes • Troubleshoot login issues, profile issues, performance degradation, and user experience problems • Assist with application publishing, RemoteApps, and virtual desktop delivery • Monitor and optimize AVD platform performance and operational stability • Coordinate with infrastructure, networking, identity, and security teams as needed • Participate in troubleshooting, escalation support, and operational stabilization activities • Assist with documentation, operational readiness, and knowledge transfer efforts Required Qualifications • 5+ years of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) experience • Strong hands-on Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) experience in enterprise environments • Experience supporting Citrix and/or Citrix to AVD migration initiatives • Strong experience with FSLogix profile management and troubleshooting • Experience managing host pools, session hosts, and image deployments • Experience with Azure Compute Gallery and image lifecycle management • Strong troubleshooting and operational support skills • Experience with Azure networking, Entra ID, and Intune • Experience supporting production environments and end-user escalations • Strong communication and collaboration skills Preferred Qualifications • Healthcare industry experience • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise environments • Experience with automation and scripting (PowerShell, Terraform, ARM/Bicep) • Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and operational monitoring • Experience with Nerdio or Azure-native automation tooling Additional Information • W2 position • Competitive compensation based on experience • Fast-moving enterprise healthcare initiative • Opportunity to work alongside Microsoft and enterprise architecture teams Pay: $75.00 - $85.00 per hour Work Location: Remote
