Senior Payroll Associate – Ophthalmology

Job Description: • Advises and assists departmental supervisors on payroll related issues • Processes payroll transactions for academic and nonacademic personnel • Assists new employees with completing the appropriate new hire, payroll and benefit forms • May provide general orientation for new employees • Responsible for departmental foreign national paperwork and compliance for visas • Assists supervisors with the hiring process including job requisitions, PHS entry and appointment screening • May maintain sick and vacation leave records for staff personnel • Prepares cost-transfers and journals adjusting when necessary • Maintains personnel and payroll related files for department • May assist supervisors with documentation needed for employee evaluation process • May assist in annual budget process • Ensures accuracy and completion of PAR’s reports • Administers academic bonus plan and faculty compensation plan Requirements: • Education: Associate degree or combination of education and experience may substitute for minimum education • Work Experience: Relevant Experience (3 Years) • Skills: Accounting, Accounting System, Business, Computer Literacy, Contracts, Grants Management, Highly Developed Interpersonal, Human Resources (HR) Software Systems, Lotus Applications, Microsoft Word, Operating Office Equipment, Organizing Benefits: • Up to 22 days of vacation • 10 recognized holidays • Sick time • Competitive health insurance packages with priority appointments and lower copays/coinsurance • Free Metro transit U-Pass for eligible employees • Defined contribution (403(b)) Retirement Savings Plan starting at 7% • Wellness challenges • Annual health screenings • Mental health resources • Mindfulness programs and courses • Employee assistance program (EAP) • Financial resources • Access to dietitians • 4 weeks of caregiver leave to bond with new child • Family care resources for continued childcare needs • Covers the cost of tuition for you and your family, including dependent undergraduate-level college tuition up to 100% at WashU and 40% elsewhere after seven years with us
