Come supercharge the electrification of commercial fleets for a greener planet with Synop! We are looking for passionate, driven, ownership-minded problem-solvers to help us build products to put commercial electric vehicles in a position to succeed.
About Us
Synop is building the platform that powers the future of commercial electrification. Founded in 2021, we've quickly become one of the leading commercial EV platforms, helping commercial EV fleets scale their operations. We work with fleets, utilities, aggregators, and operators to deliver reliable, cost-optimized charging, energy management, fleet services, and billing solutions — so that the electric transition is not just possible, but profitable. Our team is small, sharp, and mission-driven. We value clarity, pragmatism, and people who take ownership across boundaries.
About You
You're a versatile engineer who thrives at the intersection of security, platform infrastructure, and systems engineering. You love automation & building systems that enable other engineers to build fast while maintaining best practices; helping the right thing become the easy thing.
You bring a proactive, ownership-driven approach to everything you do. You don't need someone to tell you what to do — you identify problems, propose solutions, and drive them to completion.
You're fluent in security tooling and AWS services, comfortable writing production code for platform systems, and energized by both strategic work (security roadmaps, infrastructure architecture) and tactical execution (vulnerability remediation, implementing auth systems, responding to incidents). You love wearing multiple hats and understand the pace and pragmatism required in a startup environment.
About the Role
This is a fully remote, individual contributor role, but one with significant responsibility and high expectations for ownership. You'll own our security posture, contribute to critical platform systems, and be a trusted technical voice on infrastructure decisions, including owning our infrastructure cost tracking & optimization.
What You'll Be Doing
Own compliance with security frameworks (SOC2, ISO27001, GDPR) and respond to security RFPs
Implement security monitoring, vulnerability management, and disaster recovery plans
Write production-ready code for platform infrastructure, authentication systems, and developer tooling
Manage security infrastructure (VPN, MDM) and IT operations (onboarding, access management)
What You'll Bring to the Role
Proven experience in a B2B startup balancing rapid iteration with security and compliance
Strong understanding of security frameworks (SOC2, ISO27001, GDPR) and AWS security services
Programming skills for security tooling and infrastructure (TypeScript, Python, or Java preferred)
Experience with vulnerability management, security monitoring tools, and authentication systems
High standards for documentation and ability to balance security with practical engineering constraints
